TEACHERS & SCHOOLS
Engagement matters. What pupils do while they’re engaged matters more.
French and Spanish · GCSE Foundation to A Level
As one language teacher to another, I know how much certain pupils struggle with verbs, with learning vocabulary in a way that they can actually remember it in a year’s time, or with writing a syntactically correct paragraph. I am also aware that what pupils really enjoy is speaking the language, but equally know that this requires careful scaffolding.
This is why I have created My Language Brain: to give pupils carefully structured practice that makes learning a language enjoyable and, more importantly from a teacher’s perspective, helps them achieve better results.

Give your pupils a clear view of their progress.
Every pupil has a personal dashboard where they can see their progress in vocabulary, verbs, writing and speaking, and access their homework. Their My Practice Lists collect the words and verb forms they get wrong, with spaced retrieval prompting them to recall these again at increasing intervals to help them remember the correct answers over time. Their independent practice counts too.
More time teaching.
Less time administering.
Set work, run classroom activities and see where pupils need support, without creating pupil email accounts.
Set homework with automatic marking
Choose the content and activity, then assign it to your pupils. Automatically marked online tasks give you results without a pile of marking.

Turn every mistake into progress.
Spotted, practised, brought back, reported.
Getting an answer wrong should be the start of learning, not the end of the task. My Practice Lists collect the words and verb forms each pupil finds difficult. Pupils can practise them anytime, while spaced retrieval brings them back for recall checks at increasing intervals to help the learning last.
A mistake is spotted
A wrong word or verb form identifies something the pupil needs to work on. Supported corrections remain separate from their first unaided attempt.
It joins My Practice Lists
The item is saved to the pupil’s personal list, with its original sentence where available. They can return to practise it at any time.
It comes back after a gap
The first recall check is due after 48 hours. A correct unaided answer schedules another a week later. Two successful checks move the item into Practice History; an incorrect answer restarts the sequence.
Use the results to inform your teaching and your reports
See what individual pupils and your class are getting wrong. Use this information to target support, plan lessons and write reports that reflect each pupil’s strengths and areas for improvement.

GOOD QUESTIONS
A few things
worth knowing.
Can I try MLB with my class?
Yes. Contact us to arrange a free trial for your class. We’ll help you get set up and provide any information your school needs before you start. Your trial won’t automatically become a paid subscription.
Do pupils need an email or Google account?
No. Pupils sign in with a class code, choose their name and enter their own PIN, so they need no email address or other account. Teachers currently sign in with a school Google account; if your school uses Microsoft, talk to us. You add pupils by pasting names or importing a spreadsheet.
What languages and levels does MLB cover?
MLB covers French and Spanish, with activities from GCSE Foundation to A Level and beginners’ courses for those starting from scratch. Vocabulary lists support AQA and Edexcel GCSE and A Level, plus Edexcel iGCSE. Verb, writing and speaking activities help learners build their skills at their chosen level.
Can I track my pupils’ progress?
Yes. See each pupil’s first attempt, final result and submission time for homework, alongside the questions pupils most often get wrong. Use this information to identify gaps and plan your next lesson. During live activities, you can view recorded scores and choose whether to display a leaderboard.
Does MLB use AI for marking?
Most activities are marked against answers written by a language expert, without AI. AI is used to find mistakes in Free Writing, which is not graded, and to check pupils’ own spoken exam answers. These activities are clearly labelled, and schools can request that AI marking is switched off. See our Privacy Notice for details of how answers are processed.
How is pupil data protected, and what approval does my school need?
Access to pupil records is restricted, and records are stored in the UK. Before you use MLB with real pupil data, we’ll help your school complete its approval process and agree the data protection arrangements. Read our school information, Privacy Notice and Data Processing Agreement for details.
Can MLB be used without a school?
Yes. Pupils revising on their own and adults learning French or Spanish can use MLB without a school, with a beginners’ course or activities to develop their verbs, vocabulary, writing and speaking at their own pace. See Pupils & students and Adult learners.
